& Brochure

The next La Jolla Motor Car Classic will be Jan 9th & 10th, 2010. The automobiles of Carrol Shelby are to be the featured manqué and SoCal Shelby club has been invited to participate in the organization an judging of the Shelby Car Corral. We expect 50 - 60 cars and need several volunteer judges.

The show will be at the La Jolla cove on the grass as in years past and will be a judged show. All of Shelby's cars will have their own class and will include Mustangs (Pre '84 GT-350's and GT-500's) and Cobras (2000, 3000, 4000, 7000 and 8000 series cars). All other Shelby replicas and clones as well as newer Shelby Mustangs are invited to exhibit in the corral and have them judged, if desired.

These cars will include all late model Ford Shelby mustangs, Ford GT, Tigers, Vipers and others, as well as Cobra replicas, Shelby Mustang clones, and GT-40 replicas. The corral is part of the show and will be behind the fencing delineating the paid area of the event. Paid tickets are required to view any exhibited cars from inside the venue. All exhibitors (including car the corral) will receive 2 entry tickets ($20 each value) for the event and lunch in the VIP area. They will also get two tickets ($35 each value) to the wine and appetizer reception on the Saturday evening before the event, and be eligible for judging, if desired. The cost for entering your car is $75. Space in the car corral will limit us to about 60 and the pre '84 cars on the grass will be limited to about 40 cars, so get your application in early.

The committee is also looking for volunteers to judge the car corral (Classes yet to be determined). We need 8-10 Shelby knowledgeable volunteers to judge the car corral. They will receive all the benefits of an exhibitor (two tickets to the show, VIP lunch at show, and two tickets to the Saturday night reception). If you wish to be a judge, you must sign up in advance, contact Craig Wright at craig245@cox.net.

Saturday Jan 9th, a driving tour around San Diego for 60 cars in planned. The tour is open to any cars but Shelby's are highly encouraged to join. It will start at the Auto Museum at 8:30, stop at the Bill Evan's Garage for a tour (an exquisite private collection that is very hard to get into), lunch stop and tour at "Only Yesterday", then on up to Callavo via Rancho Santa Fe for a tour. The drive back down the coast will end up at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis club at 3:30 for refreshments and hors d'oeuvres. This tour is limited to 60 cars total and should be fun and a great way to see some wonderful car collections. The cost for the tour is $75, including lunch for the driver. Additional lunch and refreshments tickets for passengers are $25 each.

You may join either the tour, the show or both.
